Cowtown Classic All Age/ All Breed

Eligibility: Any breed and any age of horse. Riders eligibility is based on their appropriate class (Open, Amateur, Limited Amateur, Youth and Limited Youth)

 

Dress Code: Boots, Cowboy hat and long sleeves required. Chaps or Chinks are optional.

 

Equipment: Horses must be ridden in any NRCHA or AQHA approved bridle/bit. No Age requirement on head gear and horses may be shown one or two handed in club classes regardless of age.

 

Cowtown Classic Green Cowhorse Class

 

The purpose of this class is to be an introductory in to the Cowhorse class for participants who are new to the sport

 

Rider must meet NRCHA Limited Non-Pro requirements. Rider may not have earned more than $750 in fence work classes. Reined work the same as NRCHA classes, except: (horses may be ridden in any NRCHA or AQHA approved bridle/bit), horses 5 yrs. and under may be shown in a snaffle or approved hackamore (Bosal, no mechanical parts).  Rider may use two hands, if a rider chooses to ride one-handed, that ride must be completed one-handed.  Rider who chooses to ride one-handed may go to two hands. However, rider must return to using one hand.  Rider performs pattern the same as NRCHA Limited classes: except Rider may break down to a trot for a lead change with no penalty.  Rider may break down to a trot before stopping with no penalty. A sliding stop is not required, but will be credited if the judge sees fit. Cow work (boxing only) same as NRCHA limited non-pro class, except:  You will box the cow on either end of the arena for a period of 50 seconds.

 

Once the rider reaches 100 points they will graduate the Green class and receive a buckle. Points are awarded as follows: for every point above a 60 will go towards your Green Rider points. For example, a 65 reining and a 65 cow score will accumulate 10 points that run, 5 + 5 = 10

 

Cowtown Classic Awards

 

In order to be eligible for year-end awards you must be a member of the Cowtown Classic.

Year-end awards will be given to all the AQHA VRH divisions, all of the All-Breed/All Age divisions and all of the NRCHA divisions. In order to qualify for year-end awards, you must make 4/5 shows in the show year.

Awards are based on rider/horse combination.

 

Scratch policy

 

If a rider has scratched after the draw they have to pay the cattle fee and jackpot fee for each class. Entries will go in order of the draw, any changes will be up to the discretion of management. Class verifications will be posted for each class before show begins.
